The incident began around 12:30 a.m., Sunday, July 7, 2019, when the man entered the Baldwin Long Island Rail Road station, said the MTA Police.
According to police, the man can then be seen on video surveillance riding up the escalator at the LIRR station.
A few minutes later, at 12:48 a.m., the man was seen fatally stepping onto the tracks west of the station’s platform, where he was struck by LIRR Train 6000.
No foul play is suspected, police said.
The man is described as being between 55- and 75-years-old, of East Asian descent, and partially bald with gray/brown hair around the sides of his head.
He was wearing glasses, a blue ‘Sky Vodka’ t-shirt, North Face khaki cargo pants, a green-colored vest, and gray New Balance sneakers.
The man did not have any ID and had no tattoos or other identifiable markings, police said.
There were no witnesses to the incident besides the train crew.
Police have canvassed the area but found no one who knew the man. They have also worked with the Nassau County Police and searched missing person's reports, but have found no matches.
